Bedding

We supply Dorris Lumber flake shavings. Dorris uses only kiln-dried pine in our operations, never green wood. That means your shavings have an average moisture content of 8 to 10%.

  • Only flakes in the bag, not fines
  • Use a three-level vibrating screen to eliminate any dust

IMPORTANT: Please note that no outside bedding deliveries are permitted.*
*For horses with allergies, please contact facility management.

Hay

Our Alfalfa, Orchard, and Timothy hay is sourced by RT Hay, offering premium quality hay for your horses while at MEC.

About the Discipline

Donkeys

Miniature donkeys are a small-sized breed of donkey, typically standing 36 inches (about 90 cm) or less at the shoulder. Most originate from the Mediterranean islands of Sicily and Sardinia, where their compact size helped them thrive in rugged environments.

Miniature donkeys are known for being calm, patient, and deeply affectionate. Unlike horses, donkeys tend to stop and think before reacting, which people often interpret as wisdom (or adorable stubbornness). Once they trust you, they form strong emotional bonds.

They don’t like being alone and often bond closely with another donkey—or even another species. This social nature makes them loving companions and excellent therapy or emotional-support animals on farms.

Miniature donkeys are intelligent and observant. They remember people well, learn routines quickly, and can be trained for showing, leading, jumping, packing and even agility-style activities—usually with positive reinforcement and patience.

People fall in love with Miniature donkeys because they have this magical combo of sweetness, sensitivity, and quiet humor. They’re not flashy or demanding—they’re steady, comforting, and emotionally present.
